Well, you got it wrong on some parts - JavaFX is mostly a spilme language for Java 2D, swing is not the target. Although it can use swing. So swing related things are a little unrelated.- Groovy is a java wannabe, dreaming to replace it without much hope.  groovy only simplifies  some' swing developement, it does not really do much on java2d. JavaFX is more like a minion, has no intention to replace Java  . IMHO,  it's syntax should be revised tough..- The real problem is still the runtime startup time, deployment problems, resource usage, lack of well defined animation  multimedia libraries and a designer GUI designer for java 2D stuff.. JRE size is not a big deal. But JavaFX does not deserve this bashing.

Most people have never heard of West Coast Swing, or even know there's more than one kind of swing dnicnag. Most people also associate swing dnicnag with swing music, hence why when most people see WCS for the first time, they don't recognize it as a swing dance.
