Markus Struberg, "The Git SCM - a little bit of git"

Download: The GIT SCM - a little bit of git

Markus has 15 years software development experience and came across a wide range of SCM systems (PVCS, CVS, SVN, Continous and a little bit of Clearcase and Perforce). He is using git for a year now and recently contributed the maven-scm-provider-git for the Apache Maven project.

Git is a next generation Source Code Management system written by Linus Torvalds himself. Git is used for large projects such as Linux kernel development, KDE and X but can be easily applied to small projects just having a few files also. Compared to classic SCM systems (CVS, SVN) git is strictly decentralised and self-organizing thereby requiring a slightly different mindset for version control.
