Lickin' Web Applications
Thomas Fuchs, the creator of the Javascript Framework Scriptaculous and member of the Prototype JS Framework will show us how to create lickin' web applications ( fast & easy with a great UX!)
Abstract: - Short historical overview web applications technologies - Charm Stack - Rails, Postgres, Zepto, Backbone - Ruby/CoffeeScript - Client-side Single-Page-Apps - HTML5/CSS3 stuff - Real-time updates with Redis/Websockets/Polling
Although this isn't the regular Java Web Stack, you should be able to get some nice new ideas that are also applicable in your Java webapps.
His presentation will be for about an hour with time for questions afterwards. Slides & code will be in english, while the talk will be in german but should be easy to follow. Questions in english are welcome.
TBA / Ebean Java Persistence
If there's time left after Thomas talk, Dominik Dorn will present the Ebean ORM Persistence Layer - a lightweight way to access your database in Java with the comfort of JPA but without its performance penalities - a real alternative to iBatis and co.!
