Michael Pichler, IT Architect IBM, will present his experiences with the design of scalable software, based on a real world project. Topics will include

• principles on the design of scalable software
• potential of caching and asynchronicity
• hidden potential in the data access layer and operations

The Rails3 Assets Pipeline

Clemens Helm will introduce us to the Ruby On Rails 3 "Assets Pipeline".

He'll describe how to Assets Pipeline works, what principles it is based on and gives us some ideas on how to achieve similar functionality with other web frameworks.
