Roman Waitz - "The Java 2 Micro Edition"
Roman Waitz is software developer at Materna Information & Communications GmbH. Materna's Business Unit Communications is primarily acting as a provider/supplier of information and entertainment services for mobile net operators and focusses, next to traditionell bearers, on mobile solutions in the multimedia context of Mobile Messaging and Mobile Java.
He will give us a short tour through the basics of J2ME (Virtual Machines, Limitations,..) and the development/deployment process of a J2ME Application. He also gives a in depth look in creating network connections, creating user interfaces and combining J2ME with XML.
Dr. Gerald Löffler - "Message Driven Beans"
Gerald Löffler is a Java Architect with the Sun Java Center, Sun Microsystems' Java consulting division, and provides consulting services in the area of OOA&D, software architecture and Java implementation, with a focus on enterprise software systems and J2EE. He holds a PhD in Bioinformatics.
Message Driven Beans (MDBs) bring together asynchronous messaging and the enterprise component architecture of EJBs. After a very brief introduction to the Java Messaging Service (JMS) and the nature of MDBs, we present some scenarios from recent projects in which MDBs have proven useful. Familiarity with the fundamentals of J2EE and EJBs is assumed in this talk.
